Schools

1 in 10 children starting primary school are obese, rising to 1 in 4 at secondary school. Decreases in school PE time and access to playing fields mean only 16% of children play sport, the majority, preferring to spend on average more than 6 hours a day in front of a screen.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORT OFFER

Welcome to Community Golf CIC, a Community Interest Company, working on a not for profit basis for the past 3½ years taking golf into the community.

We do this by delivering high quality, fun and engaging golf themed experiences that aim to motivate participants in an active multi-skills environment.  We currently work across a range of educational settings and community groups throughout London and the South East of England.

Sessions are managed by activators who have a high level of expertise of working in a range of educational and community settings, as positive role models and mentors, whilst promote the benefits of leading a healthy active life.

Community Golf CIC has, at its core, a belief that ‘school’ golf should be linked to progression into ‘real’ golf at local golf clubs. This provides the children with on-going opportunities to develop ‘skills for life’ through affordable and accessible golfing pathways.

Curriculum PE Enrichment

Community Golf Activators deliver structured session plans, to include developing fundamental movement skills like agility, balance and co-ordination.  We are able to work with your school to create a package covering a variety of key curriculum target areas suited to your needs.  Community Golf works to support your school, curriculum and uphold school values, ethos and standards.  Our distinctive model will ensure all participants enjoy school sport in a safe and fun environment, giving them equal opportunity to achieve.

Extracurricular Activities

Community Golf offers extended breakfast, after school golf clubs and/or lunchtime sessions, which can help to improve classroom behaviour and stimulate academic performance. We use the etiquette of golf as the ‘vehicle’ to develop the participant in terms of social skills, behaviour, attitude, respect and emotional wellbeing. Participants will have lots of fun with friends, playing a sport they perhaps would not have otherwise had the opportunity to try before.

Competitive League

We recognise the value that competitive sport can bring to your pupils, so we offer an opportunity for them to compete in our Autumn/Spring/Summer leagues alongside other educational and community sites.  This is done through a weekly scoring system where league prizes and trophies for the best individuals and teams are presented.  Open days can also be arranged, offering students the opportunity to visit a nearby golf facility to experience playing, enhancing their knowledge and widening their involvement in the game of golf.

Our Activators

All Community Golf CIC Activators hold Community Golf Level 1 training and Street Golf training, most of which hold a PGA coaching qualification, are DBS/CRB checked and fully insured.  They are suitably qualified and have the skills to deliver fun and engaging sessions, whilst maintaining a safe environment for the participants involved.

Interested?

We offer taster sessions at a convenient time to suit both parties, to enable you to discover what we do and understand why other schools and community groups in your area are already participating in our leagues.

Community Golf appreciate that tight school budgets can cause barriers, but Primary Schools can make use of their Sport Premium Funding available, where session packages are tailored to the meet each individual Schools’ requirements.  Based on needs and circumstances, we work actively on behalf of Secondary Schools Educational centres and Community sites to access available funding for sessions we provide.  Please contact us to discuss the potential level of funding that could be available to you.
