An all female Community Golf Team were delighted to support the “Get into Golf” event on the eve of the US Women’s Open Qualifier at the Buckinghamshire Golf Club. The Ladies European Tour (LET) organised the event as a celebration of women’s and girls’ golf and as a showcase for those new to the game.
As the LET players prepared for the tournament in the background, beginners and more experienced players had the opportunity to take part in a range of activities in the dedicated Activities Zone.
Our putting and chipping challenges proved popular, particularly the longest putt, golf rugby conversion and a 20 ball challenge. It was a wonderful opportunity to not only showcase our work, but to witness the interest and enthusiasm for our golf format by everyone that attended the event. General feedback from those who tried the games was that “it is not as easy as it looks!”
A big thank you must go to Mike Round, Director of Development at the Ladies European Tour, for inviting us back to participate in the event. Also to the team of all-female PGA Pros – Denise Hastings, Evie Carter and Zoe North who patiently gave a number of the Community Golf team a free golf lesson.
Mike Round, Development Director at LET conveyed his thanks to the team and commenting on the event said “although the numbers were slightly down on last year, the feedback we’ve had has been extremely positive. One father with his daughter went as far as saying that it was the best day of their lives!” We very much look forward to supporting the event in 2019.
