To engage with specific groups of the community to facilitate fitness and activity using golf as the vehicle. The low impact intensity of golf means that it can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of ability or previous experience.
Want to make a difference in your local community? Learn new skills? Maybe you just want to do something interesting in your spare time? Help others? Make new friends? There are lots of different reasons why people volunteer – but they all say the same thing: it’s one of the most rewarding experiences you can have.
Would you like to be a part of our team?
Volunteers are invaluable to the work we can achieve and the difference we can make in the community helping people of all ages and abilities to live more active and healthier lifestyles.
The good news is that YOU can ALL make a difference – whether you’re looking to make a difference in your community, learn valuable skills or make new friends – just by popping down and offering some help at a local session or event will make that difference.
Who can Join in?
Are you committed to equal opportunities? Are you able to engage with people of all ages and abilities? Are you patient? Are you enthusiastic? Are you reliable? Are you willing? Regardless of your background, your experience or your age* (* Unless supervised by an adult, volunteers need to be over 18), there’s nothing to stop you.
Not sure if you have enough time to make a regular commitment?
Volunteering doesn’t have to mean a big commitment – a few hours a month or less? Whether it’s an hour a week helping older people at one of our sessions, or a weekend once every few months, or you just want to help out on an ad-hoc basis – whatever time you have to give could make a world of difference to someone else. We can find the right flexible opportunity to fit around your life – it could be the start of something life-changing.
How will you be involved?
If you have a particular skill you’d like to share – whether it’s fundraising, marketing, coaching or something else – please make sure you let Community Golf know to see if they could use your skills outside of helping during sessions.
Even if you are not regularly active, there are opportunities to help in other ways, for example:
Assisting our Activators during sessions, either with the participants (some are elderly or may have mobility issues, so may need support or help ball collecting); manning a skills game; evaluation and data collection; taking photographs; assisting with our seasonal weekend Golf in the Park sessions (May to September); or even helping to organise events.
Each site is different so may have a different requirement, but there will always be a way that you can lend a hand.
